This is the Big Kahuna
4-10-11 I have a Capresso coffee burr-grinder/brewer that is about 11 months old. We live in an area w/very hard water. I had noticed brew times were up to appx 1/2 hour lately. The Cleancaf took about 5-7 minutes off that. I decided to return it to Capresso as it is still within their warranty. Called them and was advised to try this first. It’s enough for 2 cleanings of 1 cup each. Not real excited about the price I ordered from Amazon and used a couple days ago. I couldn’t believe it, I am back to 14-15 minutes brewing. I am very impressed. I would give this product 10 stars if I could.
Update 11-13-12 Capresso died, no heat on plate, no pumping water. Replaced it. The Durgol was used appx every 4 weeks, kept brewing time to 15 minutes. So far, this is the best out there. It’s gone up by over 50% of what it was in mid 2011. I hope they don’t price themselves out of the market. I’ll try vinegar every other month and update this.
Decalcifier
works great! Our coffee tastes much better after one application of this product. I would recommend it to my friends.
Works but not THAT fast
I’ve tried a lot of decalcifiers and lime-scale products for my humidifiers, but none is that great.
I’ve used the peroxide with vinegar mix which was recommended by a reviewer here. If I let the peroxide-vinegar mix sit for 2 days, scrub, empty, then refill with fresh peroxide-vinegar, AND add some Durgol, wait another 6-12 hours or so, I get results.
Literally it can take up to 2-3 days, and more than one fresh batch of stuff to clean what gets deposited on my humidifiers. yuck. Durgol seems to be that last little oomph that’s needed.
I just bought a 3-pack of Durgol since I have several humidifiers. And I go through vinegar and peroxide like they’re water.
I also put the Holmes humidifier additive into the fresh water.
Obviously, I have hard water…not very hard, but it is well water and unpredictable at times.
PS: Durgol works quicker on less concentrated lime scale, like around faucets, or pots, etc.
