What a Godsend!
I found that I did, indeed, own one of the early-run Kitchenaid Pro 600 mixers that had the ill-designed plastic transmission cover when it split apart and all the gears jammed while the mixer was kneading bread dough. The fact that this once-noble brand chose to ignore this manufacturing defect boggles the mind! But, thanks to vendors on Amazon, I was able to order all the parts required to replace the damaged transmission!
And, even better, was a video on YouTube describing every step in the process:
[...]
So, if your Kitchenaid mixer dies you can fix it yourself – all you’ll need is a Phillips screwdriver, a pair of retention-ring pliers, and maybe a putty knife. I also used about half a roll of paper towels and about two dozen cotton swabs – the grease is messy, but it’s also non-toxic and does not have an unpleasant aroma. I did the whole job for less than $70 USD – which is less than it would have cost me to ship the mixer to a Kitchenaid repair…
as needed for repair
Got this to repair my Kitchen Aid pro series stand mixer. It replaced the original plastic housing. Had to replace worm gear, which meant having to change out gasket so got this gasket, cover combo for what other companies were charging just for the gasket & shipping. The part fit well and my mixer is running again.
Great Service!
The part was exactly as advertised, worked perfectly and saved us several hundred dollars from a complete replacement. The service was EXCEPTIONAL, with the part arriving well before expectations. Thanks so much!
