High-Quality Carafe
This carafe works well, although we don’t brew through it, as it was designed. We just use it as a thermal carafe. We brew coffee separately in a 10-cup glass carafe style coffeemaker, then immediately transfer the coffee to the Bunn thermal carafe, to dispense the coffee, over say 45 minutes – 1 1/2 hours, to the different coffee drinkers in the house, according to their schedules. I pre-load hot tap water in the Bunn carafe, before transferring in the 10 cups of freshly brewed coffee, and the coffee does stay acceptably hot, until we finish off the pot. The carafe is pretty large and heavy, but it easily holds our entire 10-cup brewed pot of coffee. The lid is a twist screw, which does require some hand strength to operate. If the lid is completely screwed clockwise, it stops at a point where a (faintly-molded) arrow on the lid lines up with the pour spout, so that coffee will pour out, because internal molded channels line up. An elderly household member has difficulty operating…
keeps coffee HOT, bottom piece metal became loose.
worked well for a couple of weeks. bottom piece of metal became loose from heat. it should be able to withstand the heat since its a "thermal" carafe, makes me think it is poor quality metal. Also hard to clean area where coffee pours through, otherwise its functional and keeps coffee hot for many hours.
