Clarisa Stainless Steel Double Wall Carafe – Red (54 oz.)

This is a fair carafe that will drive you crazy insane.

This carafe looks great. However, it could be better in a number of ways.

- It keeps coffee warm for a time, but I had higher hopes for it – it just doesn’t seem to keep it HOT for long enough.

- It could pour a bit faster – the opening is small, and it takes a while to pour out a large mug worth of coffee. ‘While’ being relative of course, however when sharing a cup with a friend, her comment was ‘sure doesn’t pour fast, does it.’

- The seal leaks air. Not a big deal right? WRONG! because when hot air is escaping, you hear it. When the coffee cools (and thus the air pressure inside decreases) you hear it. It’s this whining sound… it will drive you crazy. I had to stick a folded up piece of paper in the top lever mechanism to open the seal just a tad, in order for air to go in and out. That stops the noise, and unfortunately works against the insulatory properties of the carafe. Alternative solution would be to invest in earplugs or listen to music…

A-Okay

I purchased this carafe mainly to keep a pot of coffee warm after it is brewed, to prevent that burnt coffee taste. It keeps the coffee hot nicely. The only complaint I have is that when you submerse the carafe to be washed, water leaks into the bottom of the carafe (not the inside). So I usually end up washing it without submersing it and wiping down the outside.

Very nice carafe

This is a very nice carafe. The color is a deeper red than it looks on my computer (it looks a bit of a tomato color onscreen). It is very attractive and works as advertised. My only complaint (the reason it does not get 5 stars) is that the manufacturer has seen fit to place a sticker right on the front of the carafe under the spout. Now, I know this sounds petty, but this stupid sticker is stuck on with some kind of glue that is impervious to all the chemical removal tools I had in my kitchen. Ultimately, my husband was able to remove the glue residue with some chemical from the garage. I figure that since I have already purchased the item the company logo does not need to be plastered across the front of it. This sticker could be left off completely or placed on the bottom of the carafe.
