KitchenAid GMA Grain Mill Attachment for Stand Mixers

It grinds grain

This attachment grinds grain just like it says. The flour produced is of correct grind for most things, but don’t expect to make fine pastry flour with it. It does put a tremendous strain on the mixer so make sure you have one of the new (built after the second week of April of 2007) ones with the metal gear boxes. Kitchenaid says that the damage caused due to the plastic gear boxes over heating was due to consumer error, not any failing in the product, but they went to a metal gear housing anyway earlier this year. You can grind 10 cups of flour then need to let the mixer rest for at least 45 minutes according to the manual. I haven’t gone beyond this, and don’t intend to, but even 10 cups of flour heats up the front of the mixer enough that it is uncomfortable to hold your hand against it for long. The mill itself is a heavily built quality unit that does what it says it will do.
